Champion Hurdle Tips

While it is important to look at previous years Champion Hurdle results to help you come up with a Champion Hurdle tip as this can lead you to narrow down your shortlist for the race.

The Irish have a great recent record in the race and so it is wise to include a number of Irish horses in your shortlist. Up to last year we would have said to discount 5 year olds as the last winner up to 2008 who was 5 was in 1985. It probably will be another 20 odd years before another 5 year old wins the race.

Races that we will consider when we are putting up our Champion Hurdle tip will be the Boylesports International and the Irish Champion Hurdle and this should identify the Irish pecking order. Another good race to look at is the Fighting Fifth Hurdle run at Newcastle in mid season.

Do we need to look any further than the Nicky Henderson trained Binocular for the 2009 Champion Hurdle tip after he blew away top class opposition in the Boylesports International. Tony McCoy was excited by this performance and this man does not do excited and we suggest that you do not even bother looking beyond him for the race in March. Keep tuned for our assessment on the other main Champion Hurdle trials throughout the season and hopefully this will assist us in coming up with a winning selection for the 2009 Champion Hurlde.
