Cheltenham Gold Cup
The 2008 Cheltenham Gold Cup was without doubt the race of the 2008 festival as the 2007 winner Kauto Star and the new kid on the block Denman squared up to fight it out to find the number 1 chaser in the World. This race cause so much hype and we only hope that we again get to see both horse do battle in the 2009 Gold Cup.
The Gold Cup is the feature race of the entire Cheltenham Festival and it brings to the fore the best chaser in the land and it is run over three miles, two furlongs of the Cheltenham Racecourse.
Paul Nicholls had the first three home in 2008 and there is no reason why he can not achieve the same again in 2009. The third horse home Neptune Collongues nearly got second place last year and with another year of improvement in him he may well be more of a problem for Denman and Kauto Star next time round.

In 2008 the online bookies could not make up their mind as to who they would make the favourite and in the end it was Kauto Star who went off at odds of 10/11 but in 2009 it is expected that Denman will go off the market leader.
