Ladbrokes World Hurdle
The Ladbrokes World Hurdle is the feature race on day 3 of the festival. The World Hurdle is for the stayers as the distance is the only 3 mile hurdle race and this is very much a specialist race for the staying hurdlers. The Ladbrokes World Hurdle is hurdlers version of the Chasers Cheltenham Gold Cup.
The Cheltenham World Hurdle has produced a couple of horses in the last decade who have dominated this race in Inglis Drever and Baracuda. Both horses have been a joy to watch as they both had their little quirks in that Baracuda had to be produced just after the final flight and Inglis Drever would always make it look hard work until they came down the hill the second time where he really took off and powered up the Cheltenham Hill to win in style.
Ladbrokes World Hurdle Odds
The favourite for the 2009 Ladbrokes World Hurdle is the three times winner Inglis Drever but his odds will come as something of a surprise to most horse racing fans as he is a very generous 3/1 to make it a four time success in the race. The reason his price is so high is that there is a doubt about him making the 2009 Cheltenham Festival this time around as he may be retired this season.
