Supreme Novices Hurdle Form

The Supreme Novices Hurdle form is one of the toughest races to work out. Especially as the leading contenders are the winners of the previous years winner and placed horses of the Champion Bumper.

During the season we shall be outlining the best of the contenders for the 2009 Supreme Novices Hurdle and so you should check back to this section in order tgo establish the leading fancies for this years contest.

We all look forward to seeing Cousin Vinny,  Corskeagh Royale and Zaarito start their hurdles careers as they were the first three home in the 2008 Champion Bumper and they were over five lengths in front of their rivals at the finish.

Supreme Novices 2009 Form Guide

Mahonia in the colours of Jim Lewis won the Williamhillcasino.com Hurdle on the Haldon Cup card at Exeter and earned quotes of 16/1 for both the Supreme Novices' & Ballymore Properties Novices' Hurdle.

At the Cheltenham Open meeting Golan Way won the Sharp Novices' Hurdle and declared himself as a possible contender for this years race, he has a willing attitude and he could well be an each way bet with the bookies slashing his odds after this race

A nice novice called Dee Ee Williams won the Robert Giles Agencies Introductory Hurdle at Ascot in November and this looked a good race and has entered the betting at around 25/1.

Cousin Vinny remains unchanged at 5/1 at the head of the Supreme Novices Hurdle following his win in the Durkan Maiden Hurdle at Leopardstown at Xmas and this followed his finishing third in the Grade 1 Bar One Racing Royal Bond Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse at the end of November. The winner of that race Hurricane Fly followed up at Leopardstown over xmas and could hardly have been more impressive in the Grade 1 Novices' Hurdle and is now the 5/1 favourite for the Supreme Novices' (from 8s) and is the same price for the Ballymore although surely the two-mile Novices' will be his Festival target.

In the Sodexo Prestige "National Hunt" Novices´ Hurdle at the Tingle Creek meeting Clay Hollister from the Nicky Henderson yard put himself in the Supreme Novice picture with a very easy win returning from a 22-month absence. He won in the style of a good one and the bookies are taking no chances with prices ranging from 25-1 (Totesport) to 12-1 for the Supreme Novices

Medermit the game winner of the Grade 2 Novices' Hurdle at Ascot just before xmas was given a quote of 16/1by Stan James (first show) for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at the Festival. Runner up Dee Ee Williams was pushed out to 16s from 14s for the same race
